August 2023 PPC Management Recap

August was a great month for the vast majority of my clients, it seems like we had a bit of a slow start but things picked up after the first week. I picked up a client in the Home Service industry installing Solar Panels and doing Roof Repairs, I always have great success with these kinds of clients and this one is already generating a 10+% CTR and high single digit conversion rates.

Speaking of CTR’s and Conversion Rates, I saw a great article from SEM Journal on 2023 Industry Benchmarks, I feel this is critical information to review if you are an Ads Manager or spending money on a hashtag#search platforms, take a peep here, peep takers: https://lnkd.in/eMGpTWy7.

I am always saying that 2% is the absolute rock bottom of performance to tolerate when it comes to Search but it looks like I might have to raise my floor slightly based on this data.

I would like to take a second to talk about hashtag#Upwork . I am not trying to beat a dead horse here but I doubled down on the platform and started buying thousands of connects at a time, hired multiple appointment setters and am sending out more proposals than ever, the results is fewer and fewer conversations and viable clients. I added video testimonials, improved the look of my agency page ,tested different profile copy and boosted every proposal sent. I really am not sure what I am doing wrong over there but I feel like the platform has just lost viability. I landed 2 Audits for the Music City Digital Upwork Agency profile and got 5 Star Reviews for both of them. Despite this and several thousands dollars a month on feeding this system, it doesn’t seem to be working fast or efficiently enough.

With that said I am still super optimistic about feeding the pipeline. My personal networking at Cars and Coffee, as well as other network-building initiatives are slowly but surely paying off.

I would also like to take a second to talk about hashtag#bing hashtag#bingads , I am having more and more clients activate on this platform as it is a great way to bring on another SEARCH based traffic source. This might be something you tried in the past with lack-luster results but they have improved the platform and the quality of the results coming from it. If you are tired of the decreasing quality of social media ads, think about Microsoft Ads.
